Honeywell Introduces New Non-Contact Position Sensing Solution

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, March 25, 2002 - Honeywell Solid State Electronics Center announced today the release of the HMR4001 Position Sensor Module - a robust, non-contact, position sensing solution using saturation field magnetic sensing. The HMR4001 is designed for prototypes or as a development tool for Honeywell magnetoresistive position sensors (HMC1501 and HMC1512) in the commercial, industrial or automotive industries.

Ideal uses for the HMR4001 are in linear, angular or rotary displacement applications such as valve positioning, shaft displacement, proximity detection and linear and angular position detection requiring a high-resolution sensor module that accurately measures linear or angular position.

In addition to a 0 to 10 mm magnetic travel range, the HMR4001 boasts extremely high performance at 0.05 mm repeatability and 0.2mm accuracy when measuring linear position. For angular measurements, the HMR4001 has a measurement range of ± 90 degrees with 0.1 degrees accuracy and 0.07 degrees repeatability. To offer flexibility, the HMR4001 features continuous pulse width modulation or analog voltage outputs and operates on a 6-20 volt input dc supply. The HMR4001 can be used as a stand-alone circuit board assembly, or purchased with an additional slide-by magnet assembly for demonstration purposes.
